| Various trade unions held protest at Kishtwar | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Feb 28: Like in other parts of the country various trade union organizations held a strong protest at NHPC Colony Kishtwar to exert pressure on the government of India as well as on the state government to accept their long pending demands. The protesters demanded fixation of minimum wages not less than Rs 10000 per month in favour of labourers working in different categories across the nation, creation of National Social Security cover for unorganized workers, engagement of labourers as permanent employees, payment of wages and other benefits at par with regular workers, removal of all ceilings on bonus/ provident funds/increases gratuity, assurance of pension for all, compulsory registration of trade unions within 45 days and rectifications of ILO conventions 87 and 88. While talking to the media persons one of the union leader Suresh Sharma criticized the central as well as various state governments for their lenient approach towards redressal of their long pending demands. Sharma said that due to price rise, the common people particularly labour class people face lot of hardships to meet out the daily requirement of his family members. He said that all the employees of District Kishtwar affiliated with 11 centrally recognized trade unions including INTUC, AITUC, CTU, BMS, DHP Employees Association and others participated in today's successful protest. He said that due to today's protest, the power production in 390MW Dool-Hasti power project in Kishtwar District was also affected as the employees posted at power house of DHP Kishtwar also remain absent from their duties. He said that in case their demands will not be addressed, they are ready to extend their strike. He said that all the trade union jointly opposes the outsourcing as well as privatization of various developmental projects including upcoming projects to be constructed in Kishtwar District. He demanded that all the employees to be engaged in power project like Rattle should be engaged on permanent bases. Meanwhile, PHE Employees Association also held protest at Sub Division PHE Kishtwar under the leadership of Raj Kumar Badyal District President INTUC Kishtwar in support of the demands raised by various trade unions of India. |
