Bhalla kick starts road widening work at Sainik Colony | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 28: For providing traffic jams free road to the inhabitants of Sainik Colony's Sector-B, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla on Tuesday kick started road widening including construction of deep drain project, for which Government has earmarked Rs 18 lakh under State Plan. Interacting with the people, Bhalla said road widening work from Sector-A to Sector-G and 36.50 meter span vented causeway over nallah at Sainik Colony are under execution on war-footing at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore adding that with the completion of causeway, a population of 50000 souls of Sainik Colony Sector-A, B, C, F, G, Chowadhi, Dilli Birpur, Rattnu Chak and Greater Kailash will provide road connectivity. The Minister said Government has earmarked Rs 15 lakh for construction of 1-km long surface drain in Sainik Colony Sector-B adding the project would be completed by June this year. Responding to the locals demand, Bhalla asked the accompanied PHE department engineers to lay water supply pipes in the left out periphery areas of the Sainik Colony so that the water supply connections could be provided from nearest point. To deal with drinking water scarcity in the Sainik Colony, Bhalla said a three lakh gallon discharge capacity deep drill tube well has been nearing completion at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore including laying of water supply pipes in the uncovered areas adding that after commissioning, the drinking water scarcity in the area would be solved to large extent. |
