2 POK guests arrive here, 8 Kashmiris cross to other side | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Feb 28 : Only two Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) guests arrived here while eight Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge, on foot at Kaman post, the last Indian military post in Uri sector.As many as 15 Kashmiri residents, who had gone to other side of the LoC in previous buses also returned to their homes after completing stay in POK with their relatives, separated in 1947. Official sources said here today that two fresh POK residents arrived at Kaman post yesterday in the weekly Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Muzaffarabad and Srinagar. This was after three weeks that any POK guest arrived here, who kept away during winters. They said only seven POK guests had visited the Kashmir valley in 2012. So far this year 91 Kashmiris had visited their relatives in POK. The service was started on April 7,2005 to enable families divided in 1947 to meet each other after both India and Pakistan agreed to allow the travel on ' Travel Permits' instead of International passport. |
