| RPC extends full support to 'protesting media fraternity' in Jammu | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Feb 28: Expressing shock over the remarks of Speaker Legislative Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone regarding media, Rajouri Press Council (RPC) has extended full support to journalists of Jammu demanding explanation from speaker.
Executives of Council namely President Avinash Jasyal, Former President Tazeem Dar, Chief Advisor Varinder Malhotra, Vice President Emroz Suri, Advisor Gagan Kohli, General Secretary Tazeem Malik, Secretary Jamsheed Malik, Joint Secretary Amit Sharma have condemned the remarks of Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone as reported by media, terming these remarks as unfortunate.Former President Tazeem Dar said that Media is the fourth estate of democracy and there is no right to Speaker to encroach in the fundamental rights of Media. "We cannot disclose our source to speaker because we are not accountable to speaker", he added.
Chief Advisor Varinder Malhotra said that such remarks are against the decorum of democracy and demanded immediate explanation from speaker. Besides expressing solidarity with media fraternity protesting in Jammu, the RPC Rajouri also has extended thanks to political parties who supported the media fraternity. |
