Man acquitted of wife's murder | | | early times report JAMMU, Feb 28: Principal sessions judge Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal today acquitted Balvinder Singh, charged with the murder of his wife after seven years of trial as the prosecution failed to prove the case against him. According to the police case, Balvinder was having strained relations with his wife as a result of which she had been putting up in a rented house of Inderjeet Singh at Indira Nagar. On October 28, 2004, Balvinder trespassed into Manjeet's room and allegedly attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon. She raised an alarm but he fled the spot. She was evacuated to GMCH where she died. A case in this connection under section 302 of RPC stands registerred. The court said it was satisfied that the prosecution had miserably failed to connect the accused with the commission of offence. The challan fails and the same is dismissed. The accused is hereby acquitted of the charge and he shall be released from the custody in case he is not detained in any other case, the judge ordered. |
