Cut in duration of Amarnath pilgrimage lamented | | | EARLY TIMES report Jammu, Feb 28: An emergency meeting of Sarab Dharam Rashtriya Ekta Manch, Jammu under the chairmanship of Vikram Singh, arranged by Pankaj Gupta, president of the Manch, held today in which members expressed their resentments against the administration of the State Govt. as well as the chairman of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, to minimize the duration of the pilgrimage period from this year onwards. While speaking in the meeting Pankaj Gupta, president of the manch said, that the yatra of Shri Amar-nath ji completes on the day of Jyeshatha Purnima and Raksha Bandhan before this holy festival, the pilgrimage remains incomplete. Chairman Vikram Singh of the Manch, said that if the administration of the State Govt. and the chairman of the Amar Nath Ji Shrine Board, does not re-view the recent policy for reducing the time-limit of the pilgrimage, the members of the Manch will take it very serious and will go for demonstration of State Govt. He has appealed to the State Govt. to re-view the policy, in the interest of the people of India in general as well as in the interest of its administration in particular. Harpreet Singh, Sajjad Malik, Imran Khan, Arun Manhas, Avtar Bhati, and Rajesh Thomas were also present in this meeting. |
