Police skiing camp concludes in Gulmarg | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 28 : Inspector General of Police Kashmir, S M Sahai concluded the first ever skiing training camp organized by J&K Police, in association with IISM at Gulmarg today. Speaking on the occasion, Sahai said that Police will continue to organize the event every year to provide a platform to the youth to explore their talent. He said that other courses like Mountaineering, Para-gliding, and Para-diving will also be considered in future endeavors to be taken up by J&K Police under Civic Action Programme. In the skiing training camp, 51 youth from all over the valley were imparted basic training in skiing in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering Gulmarg (IISM). In the first batch which commenced on 15-02-2012, 25 youth from North Kashmir were given the training, while as 30 youth from South Kashmir Range and Central Kashmir Range, were given training in the second batch which commenced on 23.02.2012. The Instructors of J&K Police imparted the training to these youth. The training camp was organized with an aim to promote winter sports activities among the youth and provide a platform to the youth of Kashmir. All the expenditure incurred on the equipment used for training, boarding, lodging (centrally heated) and mess facilities to all the trainees were born by J&K Police. The concluding function was held today at Ski Slope Gulmarg which was presided over Sahai and attended by DIG, NKR, Munir Ahmed Khan SP Baramulla, Dr Mohammad Haseeb Mughal and officers from tourism department; GDA, IISM, local respectable persons, sport lovers and media persons were present to witness the event. All the trainees who completed the basic skiing course successfully were given certificates by the Worthy IGP Kashmir. |
