| Doordarshan-AIR combine beat IT XI in CGEWCC Cricket | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 28: The combined side of Doordarshan and All India Rodio (DD-AIR) today registered an impressive eight-wicket win over Income Tax (IT) XI to move into the next round of ongoing Twenty20 cricket tournament, organised by Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC) at MA Stadium, here. After winning the toss and choose to bat first, IT XI set a target of 107 runs for the loss of nine wickets, which, in reply, DD-AIR combined chased losing just two wicket. Rajesh Koul was top scorer with 21 runs, followed by Rakesh who contributed 16. Sandeep and Amit added 15 runs each to the total. From DD-AIR, Girdari Lal was most successful bowler who took four wickets while Suresh and Rajesh Singh bagged two and one respectively.
Later, DD-AIR combine attained the goal, courtesy fine unbeaten innings of 53 played by Rajesh Batra. Batra hit nine boundaries to complete his half century, thus disturbed the bowling line-up of IT XI. Sunil and Anoop Wattal also did a fine job contributing 24 and 22 runs respectively. Rajesh Koul and Rakesh shared one wicket each from IT XI.
For his match winning innings, Rajeev Batra was obvious choice for the man of the match title. Today's match was officiated by Sunil Chaku and PS Jamwal as umpires while BS Bhan was scorer. Prominent among those witnessed today's match were Mahesh Sharma, Ashok Chadha, Ajit Pal Singh and Ravi Singh.
