Hunger Strike by 'Home Guard' Jawans enter 4th Day

The hunger strike by the Jawans of Home Guard entered fourth day here today. According to handout issued by the All J&K Home Guard Welfare Association the Jawans are protesting for their demands for the last 28 days in front of Divisional Commissioners office Jammu. Among others Sunil Dimple of BJP labour called in sympathy with the Jawans and is also an hunger strike with them. The others are Mohid Ameri, Ashok Kumar, Isher Chand, Vipan Shastri, and from Kashmir are Karan Khajuria and Avtar Singh, etc.
As per release, police lifted hunger strikes including two women from the spot. The minister for sports Babu Singh alongwith Janak Raj Gupta visited the spot and requested them to call off their strike, but Jawans refused.
Kamla Devi, promised president has said, that if demands are not met agitation will continue, beside there will be a mass rally on Jan, 27 in support of demands. She said home Guard Jawans are treated as slave and no attention is paid for their Welfare.
