| BJP demand TPTC for Rajouri-Poonch | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 28: Alleging discrimination by state government towards Jammu and especially towards Rajouri Poonch region, Bharatiya Janta Party has proposed for Triangular Pilgrimage Tourist Circuit (TPTC) for shrines of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah, Shri Budha Amarnath and Baba Nangali Sahib so that tourists are diverted towards Rajouri- Poonch. In a meeting held at Thandi Kassi area of Rajouri, BJP State Secretary Vibodh Gupta has said that state government is discriminating Jammu region and all the funds are being utilized in valley. He said recent expansion of Urban Local Bodies with 75 % share given to Valley is an open example of discrimination. He said that although there was scope was expansion of Urban Local Bodies in Rajouri-Poonch and there were no bodies in Kotranka, Budhal, Darhal and Mandi areas besides there was need to upgrade Rajouri Municipal Committee into Council, government has only considered the areas of Kashmir in the expansion and has ignored Jammu region especially Rajouri-Poonch. Highlighting the importance of pilgrimage tourism, Gupta said that government is working on the pilgrimage tourism in Kashmir and there is no thrust in the field in Rajouri-Poonch. BJP proposed that a Triangular Pilgrimage Tourist Circuit (TPTC) for shrines of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah, Shri Budha Amarnath and Baba Nangali Sahib be constituted so that pilgrimage tourism is boosted in the area. "The institution if created will ensure the development of three religious shrines and can also play a role to diverts the tourist influx towards this area", Gupta said. Speaking on the occasion, District President of BJP, Yogesh Sharma also endorsed the demand of Gupta saying that there is a lot of scope in pilgrimage tourism in Poonch Rajouri but state government has adopted silence over it. |
