Conversion of residential colonies into commercial units, Govt sets up 2 committees: Tara Chand | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 29: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand in reply to a question by B.R. Kundal today informed the House that government has constituted two committees of senior officers to look into the violations taken place in government residential colonies by way of conversion into commercial activities in Jammu and Kashmir provinces from time to time since inception of these colonies. Deputy Chief Minister said that as soon as the two committees submit their report of their respective provinces, the government will take necessary steps in this regard. Regarding the violations taken place in residential colonies, the Minister said that these violations are being dealt with under Control of Building Operations Act 1988. He said in most of these cases the defaulters have obtained 'status quo' orders on demolition proceedings, which is being pursued vigorously in the court of law. Rs 245 crore sanctioned under RGGVY for 6 districts of Jammu provinces: Rather Minister for Finance Abdul Rahim Rather on behalf of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in reply to a question by Javid Ahmed Rana informed the House that under RGGVY scheme Rs. 245.69 crore have been sanctioned for six districts of erstwhile Jammu Province. The Minister said it includes Rs. 37.76 crore for Kutha, 50.35 crore for Udhampur, 35.46 crore for Jammu, 43.35 crore for Rajouri, 21.37 crore for Poonch and 57.40 crore for erstwhile Doda district. He said funds to the districts are allocated on the basis of geographical area/ population of the district, backwardness, availability of resources, literacy rate, developmental requirements, state share and completion cost of critical ongoing projects. |
