Tarigami condemns lathi charge on trade union rally in Sgr | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 29: Strongly condemning lathi charge on peaceful one-day Trade Union Rally carried at Sher-i-Kashmir park, Srinagar yesterday, the State Secretary, CPI (M), M.Y. Tarigami today sought investigation into this ugly incident adding that instead of curbs, the administration should allow protests, which is people's right in a democratic set up. Raising the issue during Zero Hour in Legislative Assembly today, Tarigami alleged the administration for adopting double standards adding that while the rally one-day all India Trade Union rally went on peacefully in Jammu, but the same was cane charged in Srinagar without any reason. He has called for a change in the policy of suppression and dictatorship. He said it was painful to see peaceful demonstration by daily wagers, Asha workers, Anganwari works and trade union activists being subjected to lathi charge adding that in democracy, everybody has a right to express his views, even through peaceful demonstration. "Otherwise, how can people give vent to their grievances", Tarigami questioned. |
