Under NABARD 47 road projects prioritized for erstwhile Doda distt Sagar

JAMMU, Feb 29: Minister for Rural Development, Law, Justice, Panchayati Raj and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Mohammad Sagar today informed the House that the government has prioritized 47 road projects worth Rs. 28476 lakhs for funding under NABARD for erstwhile Doda district during current fiscal.
Replying to a question raised by G. M. Saroori in Legislative Assembly here, he said construction of 281 road projects of Rs. 1013.54 crore for erstwhile Doda district have been already sanctioned by the Centre under NABARD and Prime Minister's Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Adding that work on 392 road projects at the total cost of Rs. 1709.56 crore under Centre and State plans in the area are apace.
He said construction of Bhadarwah-Chamba road is advanced stage of execution at a cost of Rs. 73.33 crore whileas upgradation work of Rs. 298.87 crore on Batote-Kishtwar road and Rs. 282.98 crore Kishtwar-Simthan roads is under execution through BRO. He said all the unconnected habitations having population 500 and above are to be connected under PMGSY in the area.
The Minister said that the government has been exploring the possibility of construction of tunnel between Singhpora, Kishtwar and Wayloo Anantnag. He said the matter has been taken up with Union Ministry of road Transport and Highways for funding and is being pursued vigorously.
The Minister also informed the House that 102 road projects at the total estimated cost of Rs. 932 crore of the area have been also submitted to Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highway for funding under militancy-hit areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister in reply to the supplementaries by Abdul Majid Wani, Sajad Ahmad Kitchloo, Vikar Rasool, Harshdev Singh, Ashwani Kumar, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, M. Y. Tarigami and Balwant Singh Mankotia assured the Members that due care would be given to upgrade road connectivity in all the constituencies. He said that the grievances in delay of taking up of road projects would be looked seriously and the road projects submitted to the Centre for erstwhile Doda district for funding be also perused vigorously.
