Missed Opportunity: JKNPP missed a 'golden opportunity' to enchash | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 29: The recent stand off between the media fraternity and Speaker for the three days have virtually put the Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) sp called proponent of Jammu's cause completely aside when it utterly failed to take up the issue in its real spirits. Prof Bhim Singh led JKNPP had never missed an opportunity to boast of championing the cause of Jammu region and its people but his actions hardly match with party's tall claims of only party to raise Jammu's cause. Be it, Central University Jammu (CUJ) row or PRC Disqualification issue or the refugees' issue or be it the issue of the unemployment among youths, the party now and then has tossed but after catapulting the issue in air and then brushes aside from the same. If recalled here the JKNPP chairman Prof Bhim Singh along with other luminaries in 2001 has demanded dissolving of 'Upper House' and even held seminars and symposiums in this regard. But hardly did he himself get a chair in Upper House in later years the all efforts got vanished into air and now when the media fraternity boycotted the assembly proceedings resenting speakers' remarks. PDP, BJP and independent members in House came to fore front but the JKNPP played a gentle tone over the issue. In three day long stand off the PDP emerged a big gainer followed by BJP but JKNPP remained much behind for its soft politics. Not only media fraternity but the Jammuites too are questioning while the JKNPP has started a 'Cycle rally for the Reorganization of J&K to end discrimination with Jammu region' but has failed to raise voice alongwith media persons. Party MLA Harsh Dev Singh came alongwith the Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohd Sagar on the first day only to persuade media persons to resume their duties and afterwards only a press statement came to media houses from NPSU (the youth wing) which staged a formal protest that too get their names published in the news media reports. Although now the differences between two sides have been bridged up but people in Jammu still are looking for answers to question why did JKNPP miss the golden opportunity? |
