Court awards life term, fine to four in 'murder case' | | | EARY TIMES REPORT Udhampur, Mar 1: Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur, today awarded life-imprisonment and fine of Rs 10,000 each to four accused facing trail in a murder case after four years trial and investigation. Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur, Brij Mohan Gupta today after hearing Special Public Prosecutor Advocate Navneet Gupta for the State whereas Advocate Jai Dev Slathia and Ajay Bandral for the accused persons observed, that in rarest of rare case when collective conscience of the community is so shocked and the murder is committed in an extremely brutal, grotesque, diabolical, revolting or dastardly manner, death sentence can be awarded. "The age of the accused persons and other circumstances warrant imposition of lesser punishment," the Court observed further adding, "so life imprisonment would be an adequate punishment which would serve the ends of justice and this case does not fall in the category of death sentence. With these observations, Court awarded life-imprisonment to all the four accused namely Pawan Singh alias Ganja s/o of Rattan Singh, Sunil Singh alias Sonu s/o Munshi Ram both residents of Rehmbal , Yashpaul Singh alias Gushi s/o Janak Singh r/ Naglian, and Sandeep Kumar alias Deepu s/o Harbans Lal r/o Rehmbal Udhampur and imposed fine of Rs10,000 to each. According to the prosecution on 8/9/08 when Yashpaul alias Yashu son of Om Parkash resident of Kah Phalata , Udhampur was going to his house from Udhampur on his motorcycle all the four accused with common intention and an old enmity stopped Yashpaul made a murderous assault and fled the spot. Victim was taken to hospital Udhampur for treatment where from he was referred to Government Medical College Jammu where he succumbed to his injuries. |
