Panikhar deputation calls on CM | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 1: A deputation from Panikhar, Kargil led by Legislator Feroz Ahmad Khan and comprising MLC Aga Syed Rizvi, Councillors, Haji Mohammad Qazim, A Angdus, Aga Syed Abbas, Abdul Rahim, President Ahal-i-Sunnat, Panikhar and Sarpanch Ghulam Rasool today called on Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah here and brought to his notice various demands pertaining to the development of Panikhar area. Among other demands the deputation requested for construction of alternate road from Chandanwari Pahalgam to Panikhar Kargil. Highlighting the importance of this road, the deputation said that it would open the remote and backward area for wide-ranging economic activities and provide an alternate an easy route to the area to get connected with rest of the country. The deputation said that State Government recommended construction of Phase-I of the road to the Union Defence Ministry. The length of the road is 106 kilometres and involves an expenditure of Rs. 300 crores. The deputation sought the intervention of the Chief Minister at the Central level for clearance of the road and allotment of funds. The Chief Minister gave patient hearing to the deputation and said that he would take up the issue with the concerned Ministry at the Central level. |
