| Budget is anti public : Shiv Sena | | | Jammu | Jan 20
President of the state unit of Shiv Sena Bal Thackeray group Anan Sharma on Saturday termed the budget presented by Finance Minister Tariq Hamid Qarra as anti public while accusing the Cong-PDP led coalition government as it had failed on all fronts to mitigate the sufferings of people of the state. Anan Sharma said the coalition government with corrupt ministers in place and administration has lost its significance and has no moral right to continue in the office. He said if the state government failed to solve the genuine problems of the poor people Shiv Sena will come to the streets to high light those problems of the general public. Giving one such example he said in the first week of January Minister of state for Consumer Affairs and public distribution Manjeet Singh chaired a meeting of senior officers of the department directing them to ensure supply of Kerosene oil before the festival of Lohri. He said, it is very unfortunate that only 20 per cent of the quota was released and the rest 80 per cent was not released till date. Referring to budget, he said the budget has put additional burden of entry tax at Lakhan Pur toll post on the vehicles purchased from outside state for own use demanding that no toll tax be levied on articles for personal use.He also demanded that pilgrims visiting Amar Nath shrine should also be exempted from the toll tax/ entry fee and period of pilgrimage should be declared as tax holiday. He demanded that sales tax on the petroleum products be lowered to bring down the rates at par with rates of neighbouring states.
