Guv inaugurates international conference on tourism | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 1: Governor and Chancellor University of Jammu N N Vohra today inaugurated 3-day long International Conference on Global Cultural Routes: Tourism and Socio-Economic Viability at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium Complex, University of Jammu. Minister of State for Home Nasir Aslam Wani was the guest of honour on the occasion and Prof MP Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor; University of Jammu presided over the function. The International Conference is being organized by the Centre for Studies in Museology, University of Jammu in association with Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, Department of Tourism, Govt of India, Department of Tourism & Culture. Government of J&K and General Zorawar Singh Auditorium Complex, University of Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Vohra said that this International conference on various Cultural routes of world has particular importance and significance particularly in context to the J&K State because this State has the many historical reasons. He said that today we have various mediums of communication, not only the books but entire spectrum of technology, like Moblies, Telephone, Wireless, E-mails, Aero-planes etc but 200 years ago and more, there was no such technology ,the travel was on foot, horse back, elephant back and these heritage cultural routes had contributed a lot in the transference of knowledge, Trade and pilgrimage. He also said that if we go back to the history of J&K State the transference of Buddhism and Buddhist in the State from china and trade of pilgrimage from China to India has the great relevance in this context. Prof M P Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor, JU, in his address said that it's a matter of great honor and pride for the University of Jammu that galaxies of eminent scholars from across the world are attending this conference being hosted by the varsity. Dr Sandy Blair from Australia and Prof. Victor Manuel Fernandez Salinas from Spain also spoke on the occasion. |
