House takes up Private members Resolution | Sher-i-Kashmir's Philosophy to be included in curriculum: Chib | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 1: Minister for Medical Education R. S. Chib today told Legislative Council that government would recommend inclusion of vision and philosophy of late Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in the syllabi and text books of J&K Board of School Education. The Minister was replying to the discussion on a Private Members Resolution moved by Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri in the House today. Mohammad Yousuf Taing, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy, Dharam Bir Singh Oberoi, Ajay Sadhotra and Javid Rana also took part in the discussion on the Resolution and highlighted the role and contribution of the leader in the socio political development of the state. They demanded conferring Bharat Ratna upon him. Later the Member withdrew his resolution after the assurance from the government. On another Resolution moved by Syed Mohammad Rafiq Shah regarding providing political reservation to ST's in the state, Minister for Rural Development, Law, Justice, Panchayati Raj and Parliament Affairs Ali Mohammad Sagar told the House that government has already taken several key policy initiatives for their socio economic upliftment and adequate representation in various spheres by way of various provisions and will continue to take further steps to safeguard their interests. Nizam-ud-Din Khatana, Javid Ahmed Rana and Nurboo Gialchan also spoke on the Resolution. Later the member withdrew his resolution after the assurance from the government. Two other resolutions moved by Murtaza Ahmed Khan regarding constitution of Block Development Councils and district planning and development boards and Syed Asgar Ali regarding taking back of Dulhasti Power Project from NHPC were, however, rejected by the House after being put to vote. |
