JAMMU, Mar 1: Expressing satisfaction over smooth end of the unprecedented impasse between the media and the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Balraj Puri, convenor Peoples Union for Civil Liberties J&K State, said that both deserve congratulation for showing wisdom and awareness of their responsibility.
Freedom of press is a highly cherished value of democracy and he was happy that both parties had realised it before it was too late, Puri added.
He was happy that the Speaker realised that it did not believe him to say as attributed to him that media was under his control and that media was bound to discloser its source to him.
Puri, however, advised the two parties concerned to institutionise their agreement and elect a person to whom any such difference be referred to in future for timely settlement before it took the form of a clash. |
