Police Public Mela all set to take off on March 4 | 4,484 fabulous prizes in the Mela: Khoda | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 1: Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. Kuldeep Khoda today said that the Police Public Mela has assumed much popularity among the masses. The people from all sections of the society have shown their interest by participating in the Melas, being organised bi-annually by Jammu and Kashmir Police Parivar in the twin capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar. Mr. Khoda was addressing the Organising Committee meeting held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today, to finalise the arrangements for 20th Police Public Mela, scheduled to be held on March 4, 2012. The meeting discussed all the arrangements put in place for smooth conduct of the Mela and different committees constituted apprised the meeting about the measures taken to make the mega event a success. The meeting was told that more than 35 stall holders from all the three regions of the State are reaching along with their products to establish stalls during the mela. Required space has already been allotted to the stall holders to display their products. Ground work to install the shamiyanas at the venue has been started and the arrangements for the visitors and the entertainment programmes also finalized. The DGP stressed upon the officers present in the meeting to ensure that only quality products are put to sale for the public at the stalls on genuine rates. Electronic machines be utilised for billing at the stalls to ensure transparency. It was told that sale of raffle draw tickets is in full swing across the State and would be available at the venue on Mela day also. Digitalisation of the sold tickets is also in progress done through PHQ Information Technology Centre. He asked the officers to work in close coordination at all levels to make the event a success. Saying that a huge participation of the public is expected, he asked the organizers to make available all basic facilities for the visitors. Mr. Khoda disclosed that this time the event would have 4,484 raffle draw prizes which include four TATA Indica V2 XETA Cars, four Santro Cars, four Alto Cars, four Motor Cycles, four Scooties Activa, four Lap Tops, four LCD TVs, four Handicam Cameras, four ACs, four Washing Machines, four Microwave Ovens and 4,440 cash prizes. The meeting also finalized the arrangements for conduct of raffle draw for the fabulous prizes which will be held at 4 p.m. at the venue in presence of public. It was decided that to make draw a transparent exercise, small children from the gathering would be drawn to pick up the lucky tokens. Prizes would be distributed among the winners by the DGP, senior police officers and lady members of Police Privar on the spot on production of original raffle draw tickets. Later, the DGP, along with the Organizing Committee members, visited the Police Sports Stadium, Gulshan Ground, venue for the Mela. They took on spot stock of all the arrangements made for the mega event which include space provided for the stall holders, painting competition for children and area identified for amusement plays and vehicle parking. |
