GGM Science College organizes Symposium on "Inter disciplinary Science"

Jammu , Mar 2: Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik today said that science is an inspiration and a way of life for the youth as their restless minds urge for seeking scientific education, research and results. He said that it is need of hour that both Central and State Governments accord highest priority to science by way of providing resources, science teachers and world class research institutions at state as well as national level, adding, the scientific magnanimity radiating from experienced scientists throughout the country will inspire the youth to take up science as a life time mission.
The Minister was addressing an impressive function organized by GGM Science College after inauguration of 2-day National Symposium on 'Interdisciplinary Science' sponsored by UGC New Delhi here today. Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education Mtr. Tanveer Jehan while addressing the function impressed upon the students and scholars to continue their scientific pursuits till they achieve their goal of success and prosperity. Emphasizing upon providing proper counseling facilities to the budding students, Ms. Jehan underlined the need for setting up of special counseling centres for bringing about awareness about the science and its significance.
She hoped that the symposium will go a long way in creating scientific temperament among students and scholars of different fields. Director Colleges Dr. Muqbil Chisti was also present on the occasion. Earlier, Principal of the college Dr. Satinder Singh while welcoming the Chief Guest gave a resume of objectives of organizing the symposium. Dwelling on the significance of speeches by eminent researchers, Dr. Singh hoped that the symposium will broaden and enrich the study of science and mathematics by way of exploring the links between various scientific disciplines and their connection with the external world. Head of Department, Computer Science, Dr. Madhu Gupta, Principal, GDC, Paloura Dr. Hemla Aggarwal, Principal, GDC, Parade, Dr. Kiran Bakshi, President CTA, Dr. Avinash Gupta, Dr. Satish Bhan and Dr. Gandotra were also present on the occasion. The function was anchored by Prof. Alpana Vohra of Zoology department.
