Seminar on "Status of Women in Contemporary India" held at JU | | | Early Times Report
Jammu , Mar 2: Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Jammu University today organised a seminar on the topic "Status of Women in Contemporary India". Students from different departments of JU attend the program. Director, Directorate of Distance Education Dr. Meenakshi kilam was the chief guest of the program and Dr. Garima Gupta, Associate professor Department of English university of Jammu, was key note speaker while Miss shreeya Bakshi Reserch Scholar, Department of sociology and ABVP state vice president presented a formal welcome note. The main speaker on the occasion focused the role of women and her importantance in society. She highlighted that the time has arrived when we need to shift from the discussion of women in contemporary Indian to discuss only the status of contemporary India. She stressed that we need not to be against men rather we need to have pro-women approach. Dr. Meenakshi kilam analyzed the role of women as takers of culture and stressed that women have to move ahead in this era of development but at the same time we need to have our feet deep rooted in our culture. |
