Cultural academy organises painting competition at Kala Kendra

Jammu , Mar 2: As part of Tagore centenary celebrations an on-the-spot painting competition was held at Kala Kendra here on Friday. Organised by J&K
Academy of Art, Culture and Languages the competition saw participation of around 150 students from seventeen prominent schools of Jammu.
The painting competition, which began at noon culminated in the evening with the presentation of awards to the winners by minister for tourism and culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora. Speaking on the occasion the minister said that he was glad to see that events like on-the-spot painting competition were being held by the Academy.
He impressed upon the Academy authorities that events of this nature should be held on regular basis. Later the minister presented awards to winners. In the 19-22 age group Insha Manzoor and Khushbo Sharma of IMFA Jammu bagged first and second prize of rs 1000 and rs 800 respectively while Rasleen Kour of GWS Gandhi Nagar and Raghav Dev Jamwal of DBN Mabarak Mandi got first and second prizes of rs 600 each in the consolation prize category.
In the 15-19 age group Ashima Sharma of IMFA Jammu and Taran Salaria of KC public school got first and second prizes of rs 800 and rs 600 respectively.
Muzaffar Ahmad of Ranbir higher secondary school, Rishab Gupta of DPS Jammu, Jyoti Ganjoo of NSM higher secondary school, Rachita Dutta of IMFA Jammu and Jeevan Jyoti of SMSN higher secondary school got consolation prizes of rs 400 each.
The schools, which participated in the competition, included Kendriya Vidhyalaya Sunjawan, government higher secondary school, Mabarak Mandi, MBS college of engineering and technology, DBN Mubarak Mandi, Unique Public Higher secondary school, Spring Dales higher secondary school, KC public school and Delhi public school among others.
