Rescue operation for stranded persons near Ladakh launched

Srinagar, Mar 2: Jammu and Kashmir government today launched an operation to rescue 50 people stranded on Leh-Zanskar road in the frontier region of Ladakh. "Rescue operation has been launched by the state government to airlift 50 civilians stranded on Chadder road between Leh and Zanskar," an official said here. Zanskar area remains cut off from rest of Ladakh region due to heavy snowfall, he said. It was not immediately clear as to how the civilians got stranded as the road remains closed till early May every year, he added.
