Bhalla asks for timely completion of recreational parks

JAMMU, Mar 2: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Raman Bhalla today asked the Floriculture Department to redouble their efforts to ensure timely completion of one-kilometer long recreational parks at Narwal Pain and Akali Kour Singh Nagarbeing developed at a cost of Rs. 2 crore .
The Minister issued instructions while inspecting the pace of work on the twin projects, here today.
Bhalla said with upcoming recreational parks would add to the beauty of Jammu district which was being projected as a major tourist attraction by developing potentials spots, including heritage and pilgrimage sites. He said besides the panoramic landscape would become an ideal place for the local people to spend their leisure time. He said the park projects envisage landscaping, illumination, construction of walkways, flower beds with irrigation facilities, drinking water reservoir and seating. He said Government has prepared a comprehensive plan to beautify all the open spaces available on the embankments of various nallahs and canals by developing recreational parks.
Keeping in view beautification of the road dividers from Kunjwani to Sidhra stretch, the Minister said NHAI authorities are on job to plant ornamental saplings, landscaping, besides installation of lights adding that a detailed project of Rs. 5 crore has already been prepared for this purpose.
The Minister also visited Kalika Colony and inspected the ongoing construction works of double storey Multipurpose Community Hall near Guru Rabi Dass ji temple. He asked the executing agency to complete the project within stipulated time frame so that the underprivileged sections of the locality could avail the benefits of the place by arranging social as well as religious functions on nominal fee.
Bhalla said the Government has earmarked Rs. 44 lakh for road widening from Kalika Colony to Gorkha Nagar including construction of surface drain besides lanes adding that the project was under progress.
For providing additional accommodation at Government Primary School, Gorkha Nagar, Mr. Bhalla said the Government has sanctioned Rs. 6.60 lakh under SSA for this purpose. He asked the executing agency to complete the construction work within stipulated time frame so that students of the school would avail this facility.
Regarding upgradation of school upto Middle standard, the Minister informed that a proposal is under active consideration of school Education Ministry and a decision in this regard would be taken soon.
Bhalla called upon the people to make their surrounding areas hygienic and pollution free adding that such type of practices not only provide healthy atmosphere but also give good impact to the visitors.
