2 bovine smuggling bids foiled at Kathua | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, Mar 2: Foiling two bovine smuggling bids, police seized two trucks here today and rescued 24 animals. Police sources said cops intercepted a truck (JK02AA/0311) at Magar Khud for routine checking. However, before the cops could start physical checking of the truck, its driver Fazal Hussain alias Fata, son of Mehraj Din of Sidhra bypass, Jammu, and his associate Mushtaq fled the spot. The cops seized the truck after it was found loaded with milch animals which were being smuggled to Kashmir for slaughtering them, the sources added. A case in this regard was registered at Kathua police station. In the other incident, a truck (JK02AD/3531) was chased and seized by police at Rajbagh. Sources said this truck contained 14 animals which were freed by cops. The truck was, however, seized. Two persons were arrested in this regard. They were identified as Mohammad Gulzar, son of Haji Noor Mahi of Mahi Chak, Kathua, and Billa, son of Ghaiya of Mathua Chak.Truck driver Hamid Ali, son of Mohammad Shafi of Rangpur, R S Pura, and his associate Javid, son of Wali Mohammad of Khandwal, Satwari, however, managed to escape. A hunt was on to nab them. |
