Singh Club Bandurakh wins opening hockey tie | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 2: Singh Club Bandurakh won the inaugural match of the Ist Maharaja Ranjit Singh Gold Cup Hockey Tournament outplaying Zorawar Club Starwari by three goals to two at Government High School, Simbal Camp, near here today. Zorawar Club fought from behind but it was too late to recover. Both the goals scored by Zorawar Club came in last ten minutes of the match through Abhinandan and Sunil Kalsotra in the 54th and 59th minute respectively. Singh Club took an invincible three goal lead sounding the board in 12th, 38th and 43rd minute through Mankewal Singh, Manjit Singh and Sukhwinder Singh respectively. Today's match was officiated by Surinder Pal Singh, Daljeet Singh Bhatia, Gurmeet Singh, Parshotam Lal and Ramandeep. Earlier, the competition was declared open by chief guest, Kuldeep Singh while Rumal Singh was guest of honour. Prominent among others present were Rajinder Singh, Harmanan Singh and Principal of Guru Harkishan Public School, Balbir Singh. FIXTURE: Deshmesh Club shall take on Cantt Star Club at 3.30 pm, followed by the second match between Young Star and 19 JAK Rifles tomorrow. |
