Kashyap Sabha demands fair enumeration in caste census
3/3/2012 11:38:29 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 3: All J&K Kashyap Rajput Sabha of "Jheewer" community has welcomed Government of India's decision to conduct the "socio-economic & caste census" in the year 2011-12 which is to be carried out by the respective State/Union Territory Governments with the financial & technical support of the Govt of India. The main aim of this census is to calculate the number of masses of different castes/communities among the different religions residing in the country and to identify the masses living "below poverty line" in different states of the country, said convener, Backward Classes Union Bansi Lal Choudhary. This type of census was very much essential right from the Independence of our country as the "social structure" of our country is build up of different castes/communities among the Hindu's/Muslim's/Sikhs/Christians/Others but the political parties in power has lingered on this census for so many years due to which the dalit among the depressed castes/communities remained "dalit" despite the 65th years of Independence. These depressed communities especially "other backward classes" Residing in the J&K state are facing a high speed discrimination in the matter of their rights of Reservation in state Govt services & in other aspects of life i.e, having no representative in state Law making body(State Legislative Assembly/Council), he said. The state Govt. has started this census without giving any awareness to the general public through electronic or print media. The enumerators and data-entry operators engaged by the State administration for conducting this census are totally unaware about the social structure of the society in the state due to which they are taking it casually which have been noticed by the representatives of the sabha & of other Backward castes/communities engaged by the sabha to monitor the working of State administration enumerators. In the area of Jammu West, east & Jammu cantonment where this census is in progress has been found by the sabha representatives that enumerators have not fed the name of the caste according to the will (spoken words)of the general public of our community in their computerized Machines(TAB). Our community masses detailed them to feed their caste as jheewer but enumerators fed some other name as Mehra, Sodi, Kashyap Rajput Manni, Banotra, etc which is not as per the state revenue record. Same treatment has been given to others like O.B.C's,S/C's & S/T's, he said. The state administration which is conducting this census process should make a necessary change in it by counting the accountability of these enumerators otherwise the O.B.C masses will be compelled to hold protest rallies agaist the state administration.
