| People of Muradpur hold protest against water scarcity | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Mar 3: In protest against the problem of water scarcity in their area, the people of Muradpur area of Rajouri today held massive protest and blocked Jammu-Poonch highway. The blockade of the highway paralysed the traffic movent on the ever busy road for hours together. Shouting slogans against the concerned t authorities, locals said that newly populated area of Muradpur known as 'Nai Basti' is facing acute shortage of water and people are facing a tough time even in availing drinking water. They also said that PHE department has been apprised of this problem several times but due to their inattentive approach, scarcity of water still persists thereby causing a lot of hardships for the people.The locals said that after failing to seek a favourable response from the concerned authorities, they finally decided to hold a protest in order to aware PHE department that they are facing problems. Later, SHO Rajouri Insp Katoch and some officials of PHE reached the spot who assured protesting people that soon steps will be taken to address the issue. After this assurance people called of their protests but warned that if within few days their problem is not resolved then they will hold more aggressive protests. |
