Writers’ seminar organised in Kargil | | | Early Times Report Kargil, Mar 3: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Kargil organized a day long Writers' Seminar at Academy Hall Baroo, Kargil. Punchoq Tashi, executive councilor for tourism was the chief guest on the occasion. Five papers were presented while 11 observers were also invited for the day long prog ramme. Haji Muhammad Baqir presented paper on 'Ancient Sayings and Proverbs of Kargil, Haji Sadiq Ali Sadiq on “Mansoor Ali Khan-The Eminent Poet of Balti Language and Literature’, Kacho Gulzar Hussain Khan on Environmental Conservation in Ladakh and its Ancient Culture, MuhammadHussain Pashkumpa on the topic The Potential of Cultural Tourism in Kargil and Mukhtar Hussain Zahid on ‘Origin, History and the Present Position of Shina Language’ respectively. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest urged the need to preserve and promote the rich virtues of unity, communal harmony and environmental awareness that have remained an intrinsic part of the age old tradition of this place. . He also emphasized upon the need to organize such events in schools, colleges and public places so as to augment the level of awareness regarding the cultural heritage of Kargil to greater audiences. He further said that Hill Council Kargil will provide every posible moral and material support to the Academy in the times to come to fulfill its mandate satisfactorily. Earlier in his welcome speech, Muhammad Ali Tak, Cultural Officer Kargil said that Cultural Academy Kargil as always is committed to the preservation and promotion of art, culture and languages in Kargil district through symposia and technical workshops . |
