Chib gives away medals, trophy among winner, runner up teams
BRSCC lifts Jammu Premier League-2010 T-20 Samba Cup

JAMMU, Mar 3 : The final match of Jammu Premier League-2010 T-20 Samba Cup was played between Brigadier Rajinder Singh Cricket Club (BRSCC), Rajinder Singh Pura and Chandan Cricket Club, Samba, which was a nail biter and both teams put up their best efforts to clinch the title.
Brigadier Rajinder Singh Cricket Club batted first and set a target of 130 runs for its contestant team. Both the teams secured equal runs due to which the match was decided by tied breaker. The BRSCC won the match with super over securing 12 runs and lifted the trophy. Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports R S Chib was the chief guest on the occasion.
Legislator, Noor Hussain was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Chib said that the tournament was a huge success and has been successful in fulfilling its prime objective to exploit the hidden sports talent of rural youth of the district in cricket. It has been instrumental in channe lizing the energy of the youth in the constructive field of sports, he added. He said that the aim of the tournament was to provide a platform to the talented cricketers to show their potential. He said that under Panchayat Yuva Khel Krida Abhiyan (PYAKKA) sports fields will be developed in all the blocks of the state with the provision of sports material and trained person to provide an opportunity to youth of remote and far-flung areas. The Minister said that the tournament is a joint venture of Department of Youth Services and Sports, JK State Sports Council, Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association and Army under 'Operation Sadbhavna.'
Chib said after successful conduct of Kashmir Premier League (KPL) in Kashmir Division last summer, the conduct of JPL tournament in Jammu was decided to be conducted in winter.
The Minister said that like from KPL Chinar Cup T-20 tournament, outstanding selected players of this tournament would also be sponsored for advance training outside the state. He said that JPL Tawi Cup T-20 will be a regular feature in future, and hoped that the state will be produce good players to bring the laurels to the state.
The Minister recognized the sincere initiatives of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Ajay Makan for conduct of the tournament for the first time in Kashmir Division and now in Jammu Division on the same analogy. Later, the Minister gave away medals and trophy among winner, runner-up teams. As many as 10 teams from the district participated in the tournament. Among others, Deputy Commissioner, Samba Mr. Mubarak Singh, Director, Youth Services and Sports, S Jaipal Singh, Brigadier Santosh Kurup besides other officers of Army, Youth Services and Sports, prominent citizens and sport lovers were present on the occasion.
