7 thefts in 7 days at Kishtwar | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar, Mar 3: Seven thefts have taken place in and around the town here in the past one week with burglars decamping with cash and gold jewellery from residential houses. Two thefts took place today. In the first incident, the burglars entered the house of Mohammad Shabir Zargar working as junior assistant in information department. According to Shabir, the burglers entered his house after breaking the windowpanes and stole Rs 40,000 and 50 grams of gold when he was in office. His family members were in Jammu. In the other incident, unidentified persons entered the house of late Mehmood Qazi and decamped with household items and other things. There was no one in the house as the family was away in Jammu. With these two cases, a total of seven thefts were reported in Kishtwar town in last one week. DSP (headquarters) Abrar Chowdhary said police were on the job of apprehending the burglars. He, however, requested people to remain vigilant and alert. He gave an account of the police achievements in solving some old burglary cases in the town. Meanwhile, police had launched a hunt to trace the missing army jawan Sham Lal who was alleged to be involved in many theft cases in the town. His vehicle had been seized by police.
