CGEWCC T20: Super over win for CCE XI, enters final | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 3: Beating the combined side of Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR) XI in super over, Customs and Central Excise (CCE) XI today qualified for the semifinals of the Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC) Twenty20 Tournament underway at MA Stadium, here. In the semifinals, played today, the match ended in a tie with both sides making 151 runs for the loss of seven wickets. However, in deciding `super over', CCE emerged winner making 14 runs for the loss of one wicket as against five for two made by Doordarshan and AIR XI. Earlier, in the given 20 overs game, CCE XI won the toss and decided to bat first set a target of 152 runs for seven. Bhupinder Singh was top scorer with 48 runs, followed by Harjeet Singh (30) and Charanjeet Singh (23) on the scoreboard. From Doordarshan-AIR, Rajesh Singh was most successful bowler with three for 30 in four overs while Suresh and Sunil Bhat shared apiece each. In reply, Doordarshan-AIR XI completed their 20 overs at same score of 151 for seven thus making it a tie. Ravinder Singh remained highest scorer making 27 runs including five boundaries. Sanjay Koul and Variinder Khajuria contributed 25 and 22 runs respectively. Harjeet Singh and Ashwani took two wickets each from CCE XI while Sher Singh proved to be costly bowler with one for 40 in four overs. Today's match was officiated by BS Jamwal and PS Jamwal as umpires while BS Bhan and Sunil Chakoo were scorers. For his all round performance, Harjeet Singh was declared man of the match. FIXTURE: Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (PCDA) shall take on Principal Accountant General (PAG) in second semifinal to be played on March five at 9 am. |
