Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 3 : Abhinav theatre provided the perfect stage, the right ambience and an appreciative audience in a pleasant journey into the world of ghazals this evening. Ghazal maestros Deepali Wattal, Suraj Singh, Kaiser Nizami and Kalpana Kesar, enthralled ghazal connoisseurs to an array of mesmerizing numbers, one after the other at the musical event organised by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. The audience in the 6,00-seater hall, filled to capacity, greeted the maestros with a thundering round of applause. The programme started with a light ghazal by Dharmesh Nargotra, Hum Nain Socha Tha Ki Shaayad, which was greeted with a roar of applause. Soon to follow was a ghazal by Suraj Singh. Then came Waheed Jeelani, Deepali Wattal, Tsering Dorjey, Kalpana Kesar, Jeewan Sharma, Sham Sajjan and Kaiser Nizami; all sang special ghazal numbers that left audience spellbound. Before the curtains went up, Dharmesh said, "I am very happy to be here." A candid Deepali Wattal echoed him. "Every time we perform here, we get a boost," she said. The chief guest, minister for tourism and culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora., was all praise for the Academy, which made all out efforts in organising the ghazal evening. The audience appreciated all the songs with perfectly timed applause. The melodious evening was choreographed by Randhir Kumar while Sunil Sharma, Amarjit Singh, Parshotam Lal, Joginder Paul, Jagmeet Singh, and Sunil jointly contributed in composing music for the ghazal treat. Besides other dignitaries minister of state for tourism and culture, Nasir Aslam Wani, deputy chairman, legislative council, Mohammed Yusuf Taing and secretary Academy, Atal Dulloo also graced the delightful ghazal evening. The programme proceedings were conducted by Vijay Atri while Academy's additional secretary, Shamima Akhter presented the vote of thanks. |
