ISCAS organizes 14th foundation day

Jammu, Mar 4: The Indian Association of Solid State Chemists and Allied Scientists (ISCAS) organized its 14th foundation day today at the ISCAS Institute of Solid State and Materials Science.
Academia/Scientists from various institutes and Jammu University participated in the one day programme. Professor Indu Bhushan Sharma, President, ISCAS, presided over the function.
On this occasion a one- day symposium on materials Science was organized . The speakers including Professor B. L. Sharma, Professor Harnam Singh, Dr. Ramesh Gupta, Professor Surrinder Kumar Sharma, Dr. Yash Pal Sharma, Dr. Sulekha Batra, Dr. R. M. Vaid, Professor Veer Singh, Dr. Purshottam, Professor Mohd. Sadeeq, Professor Hans Raj, Prof. Surrender Singh Manhas, Sh. Mukesh Kumar, Lecturer Bua Ditta, Professor B. K. Gandotra spoke on various aspects of the materials science. Emphasis was laid on synthesis of nano-materials and their applications in various fields of science and technology.
The participants also highlighted the achievements of the Association during the last fourteen years, which included setting of the ISCAS Institute at Jammu. It was informed that the Association has now a membership of about 1000 academia/scientists from all over India representing almost every prestigious institute in the country which include about 45 universities; six IITs; IISC, Bangalore; BARC, Mumbai and VSSC, Trivandrum.
It was resolved in the meet that a national level National Workshop on Nanoscience and Materials Characterization for University and College teachers/research scholars be organized at the ISCAS Institute by the Association during June 9-15, 2012.
