| Bollywood takes cue from Nithari, film on the incident soon | | |

In what can be seen as a case of reel life taking a cue from real life, a Bollywood film based on the infamous Nithari massacres is to go on the floors soon.
'Shravan', a film being directed by famous film and television filmmaker V Menon, will have as its backdrop the course of events in Nithari Village in Uttar Pradesh which recently saw the unearthing of several human skulls, many of them belonging to children who had gone missing from the village almost two years ago.
Talking to mediapersons at a press meet here, the director V Menon said,''the film is basically the story of an innocent villager who arrives in the city to make a living for himself.'' He said the film, slated to go on floors in February and to be released in May or June, will have a new youngster, Dharmendra Yadav, as hero, it will feature three girls, the casting for which is still to be done.
Menon said the Nithari incident will figure in the nearly three-hour-long film as a "small but crucial" episode in the life of the village youth.
''The course of events in Nithari, though comprising a small proportion of the length of the film, will serve as an interesting segment in the life of the protagonist which changes the course of his life completely,'' said Menon, who was here to promote his new video album in Hindi titled 'You Made Me Diwana'.
Also released on the occasion were two other video albums titled 'Do you love Me' and 'Tere ishq Ne Loota', directed by Sunil Parashar, who has in the past served as assistant director to filmmaker Boney Kapoor in 'Sirf Tum' as well as in several television serials.
Featuring in the videos will be a famous actress in Malayalam films, Reshma, alogside the newcomer Dharmendra Yadav, a youngster hailing from Varanasi.
Menon's announcement of the film comes close on the heels of filmmaker Ashok Tyagi too announcing his intention of making a film on the Nithari incident.
The announcement of the film based on Nithari comes at a time when an increasing number of Bollywood filmmakers are drawing inspiration from real life like Dibakar Bannerjee's 'Khosla Ka Ghosla', Rakeysh Mehra's 'Rang De Basanti', Anurag Basu's 'Gangster' and recently, Mani Rathnam's 'Guru', inspired by the life of Dhirubhai Ambani. |
