Tarigami demands release of arrears of anganwadi workers, helpers | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 4: CPI (M) State Secretary and MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has expressed deep anguish over the delay in release of arrears of anganwadi workers and helpers due to them since April 2011. He said that the arrears under state share are also unpaid to them, which indicates non-seriousness of the govt. for redressing their grievances. In a statement issued here today, he said the that central govt. had announced revised rates of honorarium in favour the anganwadi workers and helpers in April 2011 under various categories of workers and helpers and the funds for the purpose also stand released by it. The delay in release of arrears has caused great resentment among these workers and helpers, thereby forcing them to come on streets because of grave hardships confronting them due to price rise. This, he said, shall have also impact on the implementation of child welfare schemes and over all functioning of the social welfare department. Tarigami urged the govt. for immediate release of arrears in favour of anganwadi workers and helpers under central and state share, besides ensuring time bound promotions in various cadres of the social welfare department. He said that due to stagnation the promotion prospects of supervisors, workers and helpers have been diminished. He said that it was necessary to bring them under the ambit of minimum wages act and uniform service rules. A proper procedure be adopted for ensuring yearly increment in their honorarium and affecting timely promotions in different cadres upto the level of supervisors. For discharging addition duties they should be paid extra wages, he added. |
