Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 4: Returned from Bijnor Western UP after campaigning there for 10 days Former Minister and Member AICC Abdul Gani Vakil today said congress is determined to ensure equitable development of all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir. Congress's main focus is to develop Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh equitably. Vakil was addressing Congress Sevadal workers at Jammu here today.
He said Congress will ensure that there was no discrimination against any region. Chief J&K Sevadal Balwinder Singh Sambyal presided over the meeting. Vakil said Congress has always advocated balanced and equitable development of all three regions as it strengthens the bonds of unity and integrity of the state. Cautioning the people about the communal and divisive forces in the state, Vakil said that Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh have to stay together and people should understand the designs of such forces and strengthen secularism, unity and integrity of the state.
Exhorting the workers to strengthen Congress, Vakil said that the only way for this is to serve the people as has been said by Sonia Gandhi who has described politics as another name of service to people. He said that all party men including ministers have to work hard in addressing the problems of the people and come up to their expectations to further strengthen the party.Vakil called upon the people of Jammu especially youth to be architect of modern, prosperous and secular Jammu & Kashmir by strengthening the political forces committed to safeguarding Indian ethos of brotherhood, secular characteristics and democratic values. "You can only achieve the goal of a developed Jammu & Kashmir by extending fullest support to those who stand for equitable development irrespective of any consideration of creed, caste, colour or region", he asserted. Vakil said that one should first be a good human being, a good countryman and an honest person before calling himself a Congress Party worker. He made it clear to all the workers that there is no place for corruption as it is a menace which is eating into the vitals of our society. He stressed upon the workers to provide full support to coalition Government headed by Omar Abdullah for the serious steps he is taking for eradication of corruption. Besides others who addressed the meeting include J&K PCC General Secretary Vinod Sharma, Chief Organiser Jammu Sevadal Vipan Nischal and senior INTUC leader Jugal Kishore Sharma.
