SRTC VRS employees are on verge of starvation: Sharma
3/4/2012 10:48:36 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 4: SRTC Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) Employees Welfare Association has expressed its deep anguish and concern over the fate of the agitating retired SRTC employees who had opted for VRS or compelled to accept the scheme.
Addressing a press conference, Suresh Sharma State President of Jammu Kashmir Peoples Democratic Trade Union ((JKPDTU) alongwith president SRTC VRS Dev Raj Bali criticized the management of the SRTC and the state Govt. for maintaining a criminal silence over these employees who have all along been agitating for payment of their earned enumerations while they were in service.
It is matter of concern that as many as 800 employees have been given VRS and their legitimate dues have not been squared up and these employees who have no source of income are at the verge of starvation, Sharma said.
Strongly advocating the cause of these erstwhile employees, Sharma said that the basic fundamentals/principles for accepting requests and retiring the employees have been violated as on one hand the SRTC go for retrenchment under "Volunteer Scheme" and on the other hand large scale back-door appointments have been made in the Corporation on contract and consolidated basis.
This speaks as to how highly mismanaged SRTC is? It is a crime on the part of the management not to square up the accounts of such employees after accounting for 103+126 instalments of COLA as the COLA pertained to the period, the employees were in service and was however released by the management little after retirement of these employees.
