Police foils three bovine smuggling bids, 8 arrested

UDHAMPUR, Mar 4: Police today rescued 32 bovines animals and arrested 8 bovine smugglers in three different raids at Tikri, Rehmbal and Chenani areas of the district.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Shakeel Ahmed Beig said that Police has rescued 32 bovine animals with the arrest of 8 bovine smugglers under the juridiction of three different police stations.
He said that based on a reliable input regarding bovine smuggling, a major crackdown was launched during wee hours today in district Udhampur right from Tikri to Patnitop under the supervision of Abdul Jabbar, Addl. SP Udhampur and Master Popsy, Dy SP Hqrs. Udhampur.
At Tikri, a Police party under the command of SI Manoj Dhar, I/C PP Tikri laid a surprise naka near Tikri Chowk during wee hours and intercepted a truck bearing Registration No JK02R 9381 and rescued 11 bovine animals.
Two bovine smugglers identified as Abdu Hamid son of Ab. Aziz of Hajipur Srinagar and Sham Lal son of Sain Dass of Talab Tillo, Jammu were arrested on the spot. In this regard a Case FIR No. 30/2012 U/S 188/RPC, 3 PCA stands registered at P/S Rehmbal.
Similarly at Rehmbal, a Police party under the command of Inspector Kewal Kishore Gupta, SHO P/S Rehmbal laid a surprise naka near Rehmbal and intercepted a truck bearing Registration No JK02G 4185 and rescued 10 bovine animals.
Two bovine smugglers identified as Rashid son of Alafdin of Sidhra, Jammu and Farooq Ahmed son of Kalu of Ladwal Morh, Batote were arrested on the spot. In this regard, a Case FIR No. 19/2012 U/S 188/RPC, 3PCA stands registered at P/S Rehmbal
Meanwhile at Chenani, a Police party under the command of Inspector Niaz-Ul-Haq, SHO P/S Chenani laid a surprise naka near Samroli and intercepted one truck bearing Registration No JK02Q 9936 and rescued 11 bovine animals.
Four bovine smugglers identified as Pervaiz son of Mohd Azam of Qazigund, Munshi son of Qasim Din of Qazigund, Fiqa son of Qasim Din of Qazigund and Zakir Hussain son of Mohd. Sardar of Gopalpura, Anantnag were arrested on the spot. In this regard, Case FIR No. 19/2012 U/S 188/RPC, 3 PCA stands registered at P/S Chenani.
