SRINAGAR, Mar 4: The residents of Nowpora in old city have accused that a senior bureaucrat who was allegedly involved in fraud managed his transfer as a Joint Director Handloom Development Department at the behest of a senior minister. "Mukhtar-ul-Aziz fraudulently withdrew Rs one crore when he was land collector for widening of Mirakshah Raod. An FIR No 25/2011 dated 16-12-2011 had been lodged against the accused by the Vigilance," adelegation of residents said. They alleged that Aziz fraudulently made payments to the extent of Rs 1 crore in the name of manipulated beneficiaries. "Aziz as then Land Collector for Right River Circular Project on account to compensation of 36 shops instead of one shop made the payments," they alleged. "After the Vigilance registered the case and started investigations, Aziz managed anticipatory bail. Had the Vigilance arrested the accused well in time before providing him full opportunity for getting the anticipatory bail, the accused could have been punished for his misdeeds," they claimed.
