CJM directs police to register FIR against DSP in dowry case | | | Asif Iqbal Naik
KISHTWAR, Mar 4: In a complaint related to harassment and demand of dowry filed by Saimul Nisa against her husband, DSP Mashkoor Ahmed Zarger, presently posted in SOG, Handwara, chief judicial magistrate, Doda, has directed SHO, Doda police station, to register an FIR against the DSP and investigate the matter as was prayed by the woman. After the court direction, the Doda police finally registered an FIR under sections 364, 323, 506 and 504 of RPC and entrusted the inquiry to ASI Abdul Rashid. Saimul Nisa, who is lecture by profession, stated before the court that within few months after her marriage, her husband started harassing her and demanded cash as he had to buy a car. She alleged that her husband not only mentally tortured her, but also hurt her physically and on this, she lodged a complaint with police station, Thathri, against him and his family members who were also allegedly involved in harassing her. The woman alleged that on her complaint, police did not take any legal action against her in-laws. She said she left the house of the accused about two years back and since then she had been staying with her parents. The DSP had been threatening her and her family members, she alleged. She alleged that the DSP had once beaten her outside government higher secondary school, Ghat, where she was posted and even tried to snatch their minor son from her.She feared that in case he was not put behind the bars, he could commit the worst atrocities on her. The complainant has also approached MoS Home and senior police officers and government functionaries, including chief secretary, commissioner secretary (home), DGP and IGPs of Kashmir and Jammu regions for initiating action against the accused.
