Omar govt determined to revoke AFSPA, says Govt. | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 5 : jammu and Kashmir on Monday said that it was committed to withdraw Armed forces special powers Act (AFSPA) in phased manner from the state Reply to a question by NC MLA Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan , chief minister Omar Abdullah who is holds home portfolio , said the state government constituted two committees ; one each for jammu and Kashmir regions respectively to look in to the areas wherefrom AFSPA could be withdrawn. "The committees held several meetings and its recommendations will be acted upon as soon as the same are submitted by them ," home minister said in the state assembly. Meanwhile , independent MLA Langate Engineer Rashid wanted to know the details of the FIRs lodged in various police stations against security forces and police personnel during last three years. According to the details tabled in assembly today, Jammu district has recorded highest number of FIRs of 97 against security forces while Doda stands at second position with 88 cases. However, Kashmir division recorded less number of cases against Security forces , the report said |
