| Kargil deputation thanks Azad for arranging Kargil-Srinagar flights | | | Jammu, Jan 21 A deputation from Kargil called on Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad here last evening and thanked him for arranging two weekly flights by Air Force between Kargil and Srinagar that have facilitated the people of Kargil district largely, adding that as a result no one was stranded this winter. They informed Chief Minister that it was long pending demand of the people of Kargil during the last two decades which was fulfilled by his personal efforts. The deputationists said that with the operationalizing of these flights, there was also no shortage of any essential commodities in Kargil during the winter. The deputation urged Chief Minister for arranging two additional flights by Air Force in a week, one each between Kargil and Srinagar and Kargil and Jammu to further facilitate the people of the area so that total number of regular flights are enhanced to four in a week. Chief Minister assured the deputationists that he will take up the matter with the concerned authorities. The deputation comprising Minister for Social Welfare Haji Nissar Ali, Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil Mr. Asgar Ali Karbalaie, legislators Mr. Nassarulla and Mr. Ghulam Raza, Executive Councillor Haji Mohammad Ishaq and Councillors Mr. Angchook and Mr. Aga Mukhtar also appreciated the keen interest taken by Mr. Azad for speedy development of Kargil district, construction of Chutuk hydel project and declaring Srinagar-Kargil-Leh road as national highway. The deputationists also urged Mr. Azad for taking up the matter with the union ministry of civil aviation for starting air services to Kargil and exploring possibilities for construction of an airfield in Zanskar sub-division, improvement and upgradation of Kargil-Zanskar road and construction of tunnel at Zojila. Other demands put forth by the deputationists included according sub-divisional status to Sankoo and creation of niabats at Taisuru, Shergole, Gundmangalpore, Trespone and Lungnak and rural development block for Sodd area, granting university campus status to degree college at Kargil and filling up vacant posts of doctors and lecturers. Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the deputationists and assured them that their demands would be looked into. |
