Implement 74th amendment before Municipal elections : Dr Jitendra | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 5: In the series of meetings being organized by BJP in different wards falling under Jammu Municipal Corporation in view of the forthcoming elections to the Urban Local Bodies, 'Jan Sammelan' was organized in Ward -54 in Gandhi Nagar Assembly Constituency, BJP leaders reiterated their demand of implementation of 74th amendment of the constitution immediately. BJP National Executive Member & Chief Spokesperson Dr Jitendra Singh, who was the chief guest on the occasion, while addressing the gathering, made a strong appeal to the coalition government to implement 74th amendment of the constitution immediately because otherwise the claims of the NC-led coalition to have empowered the local bodies will remain hollow. He said that without its implementation, the expected central grant of Rs 364 crores to be released in the name of local bodies is likely to be misappropriated by the corrupt elements in the government. Dr Jitendra Singh told the gathering that BJP is the only political party which is fighting for genuine empowerment of local bodies and if they elect the corporation headed by BJP, the party will be able to further pursue the case of implementation of 74th amendment. BJP State Spokesperson Dr Nirmal Kamal, while lashing out the present NC-Congress coalition government for its anti-Jammu and Kashmir-centric approach, said that the people should teach Congress and NC a lesson for such policy in the forthcoming Urban Local Bodies election. BJP Mahila Morcha State President Sakina Bano appealed the womenfolk in particular to come out in large numbers to cast their votes in favour of the BJP candidates to ensure that we head the Municipal Corporation of Jammu. |
