| EPTWS demands closure of Custodian Department | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Mar 5: Evacuees Property Tenants Welfare Society (EPTWS) today held a protest demonstration under the chairmanship of its president, Inder Mohinder Tar Singh in front of press club .While speaking Singh said that many of the EP Houses are not safe and the same may collapse at anytime and the poor tenants can't afford the repair of the same.
He said that some tenants want to repair their houses but are not getting permission for the same and thus demanding permission for carrying out repair work of the houses and demanded cost of repair to be adjusted in the rent.
He said that houses are in bad condition and the concerned department is least bothered about that and also added that the agreements are done under pressure and there is no uniformity of the rent as houses in the same locality with almost same accommodation show extreme variation as far as rent is concerned.
He urged the government to mitigate the suffering of the tenants at the earliest so that thousands of tenants get relief and can become free and also demanded closure of the Custodian Department like other States of India. |
