Woman, paramour held for SRTC employee's murder | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 5: In connection with the murder of an SRTC employee, whose body was found lying by the national highway at Kainthpur near Vijaypur in Samba on February 7 last, police have arrested his wife and her paramour. The body of Sunil Singh, son of Romal Singh of Nud, did not bear any external injury marks. His cellphone was lying on his chest, with a pair of shoes by his side. The body was lying behind SRTC truck No JK02Y/0170. A post-mortem was conducted on the body at CHC, Ramgarh, by a board of doctors. It confirmed that Sunil, an employee of SRTC, had died duo to internal injuries caused by external pressure on the chest. Since there was no external injury mark on the body, this ruled out the possibility of his having been hit by some speeding vehicle, or killed with a weapon. During investigation, police found out that Sunil had a quarrel with his wife Surekha Devi on February 6 night and no one saw him alive after that. Theirs was a love marriage. Before joining SRTC, Sunil ran two shops at Nud on rental basis. However, after he joined the service, Surekha looked after one shop, while their servant Dhan Raj alias Vicky, Parkash Chand of Nud, looked after the other. Police sources said the probe revealed that the relations between the husband and the wife became strained after the woman developed illicit relations with Vicky. On the fateful day, the couple had a fight over this issue. Surekha later called Vicky and both of them then allegedly killed Sunil, the sources added. Sources said they allegedly murdered him by suffocating him with a pillow and then repeatedly jumping on his chest. Sunil, being frail and an alcoholic, died on spot, the sources added. Sources said the post-mortem report would now clarify whether he died due to suffocation, or by internal injuries, or due to both of them. After Sunil was killed, Vicky dumped his body in the SRTC truck and parked it near Bari Brahmna. When it became dark, he drove the truck to Kainthpur and allegedly placed the body by the roadside, the sources added. The accused were alleged to have confessed to the crime. The Vijaypur police had booked them under sections 302 and 34 of RPC. |
