SC/ST Confederation holds rally, submits memorandum to CM | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 5: Continuing its struggle for safeguarding the rights of the SC/ST/OBC's in the state including demand of implementation of Mandal Commission report, a huge rally was held at the Exhibition Ground, Jammu. The program was inaugurated by Shri Shri 108 Swami Gurdeep Giri ji Maharaj wherein R K Kalsotra, president of the state unit, said that in the present context, even the existing rights guaranteed to these categories were being tampered with not to talk of seeking any new safeguards. After formal addresses by various representatives from various walks of life the leaders of Confederation submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the ADC/ACR, Jammu. The memorandum submitted highlighted the demands included Reservation in Rehbar-e-Taleem, Rehbar-e-Zerat, Rehbar-e-Sehat, Consolidated, contractual, Adhoc, Temporary, need basis in govt. corporations, J&K Bank, NRHM, SPO's, Anganwari workers, and calculation of pending backlog of over 40,000 posts in these departments for SC/ST/OBC's, Implementation of 27% reservation for OBC's and till then, as an interim measure, enhance the 2% to at least 9 percent, enhancement of income slab for the OBC's at par with that at the centre for creamy layer and stopping diversion of special component funds meant for SC/ST/OBc's towards general purposes, Implementation of SRO 110 of J&K govt. and 85th amendment Act of the Constitution and maintenance of roster and promotion avenues for safai karamcharis be opened in a fair and impartial manner. Among those who spoke on the occasion included Mohd. Abdullah Chowdhary, Rohit Verma, Sham Lal Bassan, Ramesh Sarmal, Mushtaq Badgami, Zahida Begum, Shamim Begum, A.C. Bhagat, Tayub Khatana, Assad Chauhan, Sawar Chaudhary Sarpanches from different areas, social, religious and community leaders of the state. |
