Kishtwar, March 5: Police today conducted a surprise raid at block development office, Drabshala, here and seized the record pertaining to the alleged withdrawal of fraudulent bills against the construction of a common facility centre (CFC) in the area under National Food For Work (NFFW) programme.
According to police sources, the officials of Rural Development Department (RDD) of Drabshala had fraudulently withdrawn bills against the construction of CFC building.

The CFC has three rooms, one lobby, one furnished bathroom and one unfinished bathroom. Rs 3 lakh were allegedly withdrawn against its repairs in less than an year of its construction, sources said. Rs 5 lakh were allegedly withdrawn by showing that the building was damaged. Rs 14.5 lakh were allegedly withdrawn against it later by citing other reasons, the sources added. The payment was alleged to have been made to local contractor Mohammad Sabir who was given contract for the construction of CFC.
The matter came to light after Sabir approached police, claiming that he had received no money. In his complaint, he alleged that an ex-BDO and two junior assistants were involved in the fraudulent withdrawal of bills on his name.
Sources said that the old CFC building which was constructed some years ago was never demolished after fresh estimate was sanctioned in 2005.
